Northglenn Recreation Center

This stretch of highway has seen a steady increase in crashes since 2012, prompting CDOT to look at ways to improve safety along with traffic and transit operations. Proposed improvements include wider shoulders, a wider express lane buffer, an improved connection from westbound I-270 to northbound I-25, a center median transit station at the Thornton Park-n-Ride, a new 88th Avenue bridge, a northbound climbing lane from 84th to 104th avenues, and the addition of auxiliary lanes between the 84th and 104th avenue interchanges. The study phase, as part of the National Environmental Policy Act process, will continue through spring 2026 with design efforts occurring simultaneously. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026.
