On Monday, Oct. 15, our print vendor, K&H Printers, delivered Adams County ballots to the USPS General Mail Facility. About 61,000 of those—including Clerk Stan Martin’s—did not make it into the mail stream and were returned to a secure location.
Once the Elections Office was made aware that some voters weren’t receiving ballots, we worked with our partners at the printer and USPS to locate the ballots.
Those ballots are now in USPS’ hands to be processed this evening for delivery to voters over the next few days.
“I understand that some voters are frustrated that they haven’t received their ballots, and I’m frustrated as well,” said Martin. “My team and I worked diligently today to get to the bottom of why those 61,000 ballots hadn’t been delivered, and I’m happy to report that they’ll be hitting mailboxes soon. I personally witnessed the ballots being removed from the secure and sealed trailer and then I verified that USPS started processing them.”

The clerk’s office is working with our print vendor and USPS to conduct a thorough investigation. We will release more information after the investigation is completed.

Colorado Master Gardener Fall 2017 Program
The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for fall 2017 evening classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6–9 p.m., Sept. 26–Nov. 30. Master Gardeners are part of the outreach program of Colorado State University Extension; a statewide network including Master Gardeners and CSU faculty and staff who provide lifelong educational programs for all Coloradans in their local communities using research-based information.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, July 13, 5-10 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. Barr Lake Appreciation Day - July 15
Barr Lake State Park will host Lake Appreciation Day from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The park encourages residents to bring family, friends, groups, and co-workers for volunteer clean-up projects from 8–11 a.m., with a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by fun activities, including canoe instruction, archery demonstrations, face painting, a jumping castle, boat rides, climbing wall, and more. The state park entry fee is waived for participating volunteers, and RSVP is required.

Plant Alarm Drill at Suncor Today
NOTICE: Suncor will be holding a plant alarm drill on Thursday, June 29, at the Suncor Refinery Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds at 1 p.m. The plant alarm will sound signaling the start of the drill, so there will be two alarms today - one at noon for Suncor's standard alarm test, then again at 1 p.m. to mark the beginning of the drill. This is not an emergency situation. If an actual emergency occurs during this time, Suncor will cease the drill.
