Projects 130 adoptions will finalized in 2018
Today, 14 children in Adams County welcomed a new start on National Adoption Day. A special celebration took place at the Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Dr., Brighton. The Board of County Commissioners, Human Services Department, and the 17th Judicial District hosted the adoptive families. Adams County projects a total of 130 adoptions will be finalized by the end of the year.
“There’s a need for children looking for forever families in Adams County,” said Mary Hodge, Adams County Board of Commissioners Chair. “The energy and inspiration in the courthouse was like nothing else, and we are proud to make dreams come true for the hundreds of children in our foster care system.”
National Adoption Day exists to draw special attention to the 117,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent and loving families. From its inception in 2000, this annual, one-day event has celebrated nearly 70,000 adoptions. In 2017, nearly 5,000 youth in foster care were adopted by their forever families as part of National Adoption Day celebrations.

Suncor’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) will conduct fire extinguisher training Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from approximately 1-3 p.m. The fire extinguisher training will take place at the Plant 1 fire training grounds on the western edge of the Commerce City refinery property. During the training there will likely be flames and smoke produced. Local stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and local government officials have been notified.
A Jefferson County judge ordered the City and County of Denver to pay Adams County more than $33 million for violations of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) regarding noise levels at Denver International Airport (DIA) during the years of 2014, 2015, and 2016. DIA was found in violation of 67 Class II noise exposure performance standards (NEPS) during the aforementioned years.
