Six adoptions to be finalized at special celebration
In celebration of National Adoption Day on Saturday, Nov. 19, the Adams County Board of Commissioners, Human Services Department, and the 17th Judicial District will host a special celebration at the Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Dr., Brighton, 9–11 a.m., to finalize six adoptions for Adams County children and their new families.
“This is a day to celebrate families who will finalize their adoptions, and honor the many other families and individuals in Adams County who have supported the adoptive community,” said Steve O’Dorisio, Adams County Board of Commissioners. “Adoption not only brings joy to the child or children being adopted, it ignites happiness for the family who is adopting, and that’s what this day is all about.”
Since 2005, Adams County has participated in National Adoption Day, which is held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This national and collective effort helps to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children who are waiting for their forever homes. By the end of 2016, more than 110 adoptions will be finalized in Adams County.
