Foster Source, a community partner of Adams County Human Services, is collecting signatures in favor of a group special license plate to promote foster awareness and to aid in recruitment for foster parents in Colorado.
Adams County Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco is a strong supporter of this initiative and has worked closely with Foster Source on many projects. This initiative also has the full support of the entire Adams County Board of Commissioners.
“As a former foster child, this particular project is near and dear to my heart,” said Tedesco. “We’re simply asking residents for help to get this approved through the state and then on to the state legislature for their approval.”
If approved, the license plate will cost $50, and the funds will go to Foster Source to provide direct support to Colorado foster families.
“Not everyone can foster, but everyone can do something to help,” Renee Barnard, Foster Source’s executive director, said in a recent interview. “What it could do for recruitment and retention for foster care in Colorado is huge.”
The petition needs 3,500 signatures to move to the next step in the approval process. Colorado residents interested in signing the petition can do so at fostersource.org/plate.
