Adams County has partnered with OpenGov, the leader in government performance management, to further increase its effectiveness and accountability with the county budget. The county’s OpenGov portal is now live and includes budget data from the past few years.
“County leadership places a high value on transparency, and our partnership with OpenGov will enhance that,” said Board of County Commissioners chair Mary Hodge. “Our residents deserve to know where and how their money is being spent and as a county, we are committed to being accountable for every last cent.”
The OpenGov Cloud™ is an easy-to-use, cloud-based solution for budgeting, operational performance, and citizen engagement. It is powered by CKAN, the open-source standard the U.S. federal government, European Union, and hundreds of other agencies around the world use for open data.
“Our open data portal is a win-win for Adams County and the community,” said OpenGov CEO Zac Bookman. “On average, governments receive 20 percent fewer requests for information after they launch their OpenGov open data portals. That means residents are getting the information they need, and it saves time and energy that can be spent elsewhere.”
Adams County is using OpenGov’s open data portal to give county government officials access to its data sets to make more informed decisions. The county is also using the portal to share data with the community.
“Our new OpenGov portal will allow our residents to understand how their tax dollars are invested and is an easy way to become more engaged with their county government,” said County Manager Raymond H. Gonzales.
Adams County joins over 1,700 city, county, and state government agencies, special districts, and schools that rely on OpenGov.

Colorado Master Gardener Fall 2017 Program
The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for fall 2017 evening classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6–9 p.m., Sept. 26–Nov. 30. Master Gardeners are part of the outreach program of Colorado State University Extension; a statewide network including Master Gardeners and CSU faculty and staff who provide lifelong educational programs for all Coloradans in their local communities using research-based information.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, July 13, 5-10 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Barr Lake Appreciation Day - July 15
Barr Lake State Park will host Lake Appreciation Day from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The park encourages residents to bring family, friends, groups, and co-workers for volunteer clean-up projects from 8–11 a.m., with a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by fun activities, including canoe instruction, archery demonstrations, face painting, a jumping castle, boat rides, climbing wall, and more. The state park entry fee is waived for participating volunteers, and RSVP is required.

Plant Alarm Drill at Suncor Today
NOTICE: Suncor will be holding a plant alarm drill on Thursday, June 29, at the Suncor Refinery Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds at 1 p.m. The plant alarm will sound signaling the start of the drill, so there will be two alarms today - one at noon for Suncor's standard alarm test, then again at 1 p.m. to mark the beginning of the drill. This is not an emergency situation. If an actual emergency occurs during this time, Suncor will cease the drill.
