Due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in Colorado, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) declared a state of emergency for Adams County on Wednesday, March 11. The order was extended on Wednesday, March 18 (through Wednesday, March 25), and again on Wednesday March 25 (through Sunday, April 19). On Wednesday, May 6, the declaration was extended by County Manager Raymond Gonzales, with the consent of the BOCC. The declaration will be in effect until it is officially concluded or with the consent of the BOCC.
The state of emergency allows the county to adjust policies as necessary to accommodate employees and their family members with flu or coronavirus symptoms and various dependent care situations.
Adjustments to county policies include, but are not limited to:
- Accommodations for symptomatic employees and/or their family members
- Accommodations for employees who need dependent care
- Alternative work schedules
- Work from home accommodations
Essential employees will continue to work as needed. County leadership will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and make adjustments as needed.

Colorado Master Gardener Fall 2017 Program
The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for fall 2017 evening classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6–9 p.m., Sept. 26–Nov. 30. Master Gardeners are part of the outreach program of Colorado State University Extension; a statewide network including Master Gardeners and CSU faculty and staff who provide lifelong educational programs for all Coloradans in their local communities using research-based information.

Gov. Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Friday, July 21, 2017, on all public buildings statewide in memory of South Metro Firefighter Engineer Mike Freeman. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, July 13, 5-10 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Barr Lake Appreciation Day - July 15
Barr Lake State Park will host Lake Appreciation Day from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The park encourages residents to bring family, friends, groups, and co-workers for volunteer clean-up projects from 8–11 a.m., with a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by fun activities, including canoe instruction, archery demonstrations, face painting, a jumping castle, boat rides, climbing wall, and more. The state park entry fee is waived for participating volunteers, and RSVP is required.

Plant Alarm Drill at Suncor Today
NOTICE: Suncor will be holding a plant alarm drill on Thursday, June 29, at the Suncor Refinery Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds at 1 p.m. The plant alarm will sound signaling the start of the drill, so there will be two alarms today - one at noon for Suncor's standard alarm test, then again at 1 p.m. to mark the beginning of the drill. This is not an emergency situation. If an actual emergency occurs during this time, Suncor will cease the drill.
