The Regional Transportation District (RTD), in coordination with Suncor and local emergency services will conduct an emergency preparedness drill for the N Line on Wednesday, Oct. 28, between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon. The drill will take place at RTD’s Commerce City/72nd Station, 3838 E. 72nd Ave.
The simulated exercise will allow local agencies to coordinate communications and response strategies in the event of an actual emergency along the new commuter rail N Line from Denver to Thornton which opened for service on Sept. 21.
The drill scenario will simulate a chemical release at the Suncor refinery that affects the local area and passengers on an N Line train. During the exercise, emergency equipment may be visible in the area and at Commerce City·72nd Station.
The N Line will be in service will be in service during the drill, with passenger trains running on a single track through the station. Bus service will run as scheduled. The drill is not expected to significantly affect traffic in the area.
Due to social distancing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance at the exercise is limited to drill participants.
