The Public Works Department is responsible for:
- Administering all construction activities within county public rights-of-way
- Maintaining and improving the county's infrastructure, including roadways, bridges, and drainage facilities
Requirements
- Highway Worker I
- Six (6) months experience in civil construction work
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license, Class B CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Highway Worker II
- Two (2) years experience in civil construction work
- HIgh School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid Class B CDL
- Highway Worker III
- Five (5) years experience in civil construction work
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain endorsements within 90 days of hire
Those who meet the above requirements will have the ability to apply, interview, and potentially be offered a position on the day of the hiring event. All hires are contingent on candidates passing a criminal background check, DOT physical and drug screen prior to their start date.

Suncor’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) will conduct fire extinguisher training Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from approximately 1-3 p.m. The fire extinguisher training will take place at the Plant 1 fire training grounds on the western edge of the Commerce City refinery property. During the training there will likely be flames and smoke produced. Local stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and local government officials have been notified.
A Jefferson County judge ordered the City and County of Denver to pay Adams County more than $33 million for violations of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) regarding noise levels at Denver International Airport (DIA) during the years of 2014, 2015, and 2016. DIA was found in violation of 67 Class II noise exposure performance standards (NEPS) during the aforementioned years.
