To honor those who have lost their lives due to COVID-19, Adams County will join many municipalities, counties, and sports organizations across the state in a series of remembrance events. Moments of silence will be observed at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15; Friday, May 22; and Friday, May 29.

Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies are encouraged to turn their lights and sirens on at the designated days and times, and the governor’s office has asked all municipalities and law enforcement agencies to participate.

DENVER - Today, Gov. Polis ordered the Colorado and American flags be lowered to half staff on all public buildings statewide from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 15, 2020, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day, and as proclaimed by President Trump. 

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced approval of a request from Colorado to provide online purchasing of food to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households.

Due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in Colorado, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) declared a state of emergency for Adams County on Wednesday, March 11.  The order was extended on Wednesday, March 18 (through Wednesday, March 25), and again on Wednesday March 2

As part of its COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, Adams County, in partnership with Tri-County Health Department, is moving to a safer at home order starting on Saturday, May 9, with more specific details available later this week.

Adams County is launching a series of programs to assist small businesses with the reopening and recovery process.

As part of its COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, Adams County, through its Community & Economic Development Department, is establishing the Small Business Stabilization Program to provide local businesses with grants up to $35,000, dependent on business needs, to retain jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adams County has received $90 million from the federal government under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funding will cover costs that are necessary to respond to the ongoing public health emergency related to COVID-19. The county will distribute 45% of the allocated funds to municipalities that were ineligible to receive direct funding under the CARES Act. Specific allocation details will be released in the next week and will follow similar distribution formulas used by the county when allocating funds to Adams County municipalities.

On Wednesday, April 29, Suncor will begin conducting maintenance in Plant 1 of the Commerce City Refinery. This work may result in some increased flaring and the potential for black smoke. Regulatory agencies have been notified and it is anticipated the work will be completed by Thursday evening, April 30. Suncor's focus is on completing the maintenance safely while minimizing any impacts on our neighboring communities and the environment. In late March, Governor Jared Polis authorized county treasurers to waive delinquent interest on property tax payments through April 20 in Executive Order D 2020-012. Earlier this month, Polis announced in a press conference he was authorizing the treasurers to continue to waive interest on first half real property payments and extended that through April 30.

Due to continuing concerns of coronavirus (COVID-19), county leadership made the decision to extend the building closures for many county locations through May 31, with the intent to reopen buildings Monday, June 1. The Sheriff, District Attorney, Coroner, and Justice Center will remain open.
