Community Partners Open House

The Human Services Center is hosting an Open House for its Community Partners on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1-3 p.m., at the Pete Mirelez Human Services Center, 11860 Pecos St., Westminster, in the Community Partner Suite (2700). The public is welcome to come out to meet the community partners and learn more about the services each agency provides. Light refreshments will be provided. 

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training

Notice: Suncor ERT will conduct live fire training on Thursday, Aug. 22 , 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Suncor Fire Training Center. During the training there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Local Boy to be Sworn in as Honorary Adams County Deputy – Aug. 19

You are invited to join the Adams County Sheriff’s Office as they swear in honorary deputy Kaiden Ross. The nine-year-old was recently diagnosed with a rare type of kidney cancer that has spread to different parts of his body. The event will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, 5:30 p.m., in the Adams County Public Hearing Room, 4430 S. Adams County Pkwy., Brighton. I-76/I-25 Travel Advisory

A single eastbound lane closure will be in place for 24 hours, from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, until 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. The closure location is from MP 5.63 to MP 5.73 at the I-76/I-25 interchange. This 24-hour lane closure is necessary so crews can repair concrete deck panels and make bridge improvements to maximize driver safety. CDOT anticipates medium travel impact to motorists traveling the affected route and some delays are expected. The project supports CDOT's new Whole System, Whole Safety initiative.

Human Services Director Named

Adams County Manager Raymond Gonzales announced today the hiring of Katie Griego as the county’s new Director of Human Services. Griego will join the team on Monday, Aug. 19. This position provides critical leadership and oversight to a large department that includes many multi-disciplinary teams.

West Nile Virus

This week, a mosquito pool sampled in Thornton by Tri-County Health Department tested positive for West Nile Virus. Vaccination Critical to Keep Measles Out of Colorado

Denver, Colo. — In the midst of the largest measles outbreak in the U.S. in nearly three decades, public health officials representing Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties are calling on parents and caregivers to keep measles out of Colorado by making sure kindergartners are vaccinated before school starts.

BOCC Proclaims August Child Support Awareness Month

Nationwide, August is celebrated as Child Support Awareness Month, and today it’s been proclaimed so in Adams County by the Board of County Commissioners.

“Often, Child Support Services workers are made out to be the bad person,” says Wisler Jacquecin, Administrator, Adams County Child Support Services (CSS) Division. “Hopefully, the awareness activities during this month will show we’re here to be advocates for the children and to provide assistance to the parents where we can.”
